Brrr, it's starting to get a little chilly in Brisbane & with only a couple of weeks until the onset of winter I'm staring at my wardrobe full of t-shirts, summer dresses & little ballet flats.
Yep, completely unprepared but also completely uninspired to do anything about it.
I guess my idea of winter is curling up on the sofa with your favourite PJ's, big fluffy socks, a warm blanket & a nice big
mug of hot chocolate smothered in semi-melted gooey, oozy marshmellows!
Yummo - I guess that's why the say winter is bad for the waistline
Maybe these pics will kick me off my bum & go shopping...
On second thoughts.. the sofa looks mighty comforting..
While browsing the bright & colourful world of the internet this afternoon for some well needed inspiration (before I head off to work tonight, that is) I found this cute stop-motion animation on Youtube that caught my attention.
I simply ADORE all the little details that have been carefully placed in, it must have taken some amount of work!
I don't think there is anything quite like reading a old book. That smell.
It smells dusty and the particles irritate your nostrils like you're on the verge of sneezing, but also it smells loved.
I'd love book shelf covered in old, preloved books. Books full of all sorts of stories - happy, sad, romantic, tragic. Books abundant with poetry!
"Books
are the windows through
which the soul looks out" Henry Ward Beecher
I think people these days under-estimate the power of poetry, and beautiful words are simply overlooked.
I found an old poetry book belonging to my late Grandmother. I think she once told me she had it in the war. One of the poems I love is this one. It's so romantic, I wish men would still pour out their hearts!
THE TRUE BEAUTY
He that loves a rosy cheek
Or a coral lip admires, Or from star-like eyes doth seek, Fuel to maintain his fires; As old Time makes these decay, So his flames must waste away.
But a smooth and steadfast mind, Gentle thoughts, and calm desires, Hearts with equal love combined, Kindle never-dying fires :- Where these are not, I despise Lovely cheeks or lips or eyes.
T. Carew
So, I leave you with those words & hope you are inspired to pick up and book and read, for a book will never leave you, never betray you and always be with you.
Love,
Allison - La Belle Plume xoxo

It's hit that time of the afternoon, time ticks by so slowly,
your eyes start drooping and your mind whisks you away to sweet
daydreams of frolicking through lush green meadows scattered with pretty
flowers in pastel colours.. or is that just me?
Anyhow, reality kicks back in even though we try to fight it off!
We've been trying hard to make our blog pretty today. It's taking shape s-l-o-w-l-y but they do say 'slow & steady wins the race'. We're still learning the ropes but we've been messing around with the theme today so hopefully everything works!
Today is labour day here in Brisbane and we've done nothing but doing some labouring of love for our shop La Belle Plume . It's been fun, finding new places to promote our brand and now we've landed into the (slightly intimidating!) land of blogging.
We'll be trying our very best to make this blog fun, interesting & relevant to you so if you have any ideas, tips or want to see something on our blog then please let us know.
Our first post is definitely short & sweet, but we'll be back before you know it.
